House Update

As a major winter storm approaches the Tahoe area my construction crew has been hard at work sheeting the roof and water sealing it to make sure that everything will be dry and ready to work on after this storm. The exterior of the house is nearly 100% complete minus doing the roofing materials, the windows, framing in the mudroom and new front door area, and new front stairs. I am really excited about the progress and will be much more diligent about updating everyone on the progress.

Here are the most recent pictures.

Hawaii Part 2

So I am back in Truckee after a great week in Hawaii. I had a ton of fun hanging out with Kalyn, and of course with my family. Went on awesome adventures, New Years was by far the best New Years Eve I have ever had and that is all thanks to the spontaneous decision making that Kalyn and I have together. These adventures included going to a bar and having a drink just to have our parking validated, going up to Kapalua to eat sushi (pictured below) and drink and set off fireworks, going up to Honolua to watch the surf against the moon light and the rain, drinking really bad wine and partying in the hot tub until 5am with super random drunk people from all over the country. It was an incredible night. I finished a great book while I was on the beach, if anyone is interested in reading a satirical comedy about 2 very dysfunctional groups of people I would recommend About a Boy by Nick Hornby. It was sad leaving such an amazing place but I had to get back to reality. I took a few more pictures. I hope everyone likes them.

Check back for a construction update on my house tomorrow.

Hawaii Part 1

So for the past 4 days I have been in Hawaii, on the north west shore of the Maui. It has been absolutely amazing. The weather has been ideal and everything we have done has worked out to perfection. The restaurants have been amazing, snorkeling had perfect weather, I got to hang out with one of my absolute best friends, today we went zip lining across some jungle canyons on the mountains. It has been the perfect combination of relaxation and fun. I couldn’t ask for a better vacation. I have taken some photos of the first portion of the trip and added them to this post.

I want to wish everyone a very Happy and Safe New Years and the best wishes for the beginning of a not only a new year, but also a new decade.

Christmas / I suck at this

So I hope that everyone had an amazing day being that today is Christmas and all. I got some new photo gear which I am stoked to play with once I get back to Truckee. I am at my parents house in Atlanta. It is great to spend time with them, although too much time with them can be obnoxious. Tomorrow I am heading to Maui! Ten days of relaxation before the snowboard season really kicks off and I have zero time to myself.

I know I suck at writing in my blog but I swear I will upload photos from Maui and start to be somewhat responsible about updating this thing. The benefits of blogging are fairly clear from the successes of some of my friends. I am going to make this happen.

Hope everyone is doing well.

New Kitten

So yesterday my friends Kari and David and I decided to head down to Reno. Kari needed a new couch for her great new house and also wanted to play at the near by humane society. While there Kari found a kitten that looked just like a cat that she had recently. She didn’t end up adopting it. While I was walking around looking at all of the cats I found one that I couldn’t leave without. I had to have him. He is now my furry new roommate named Eskimo. He wears a bandana because he is a badass.

Overdue Construction Update

Construction is going smoothly, they have started to put the walls up (those photos will be up in the next update). Here are some of what I took last week.

More Construction Photos

The construction is going really smoothly now. There have been no weather delays (hopefully it stays that way so they can finish the concrete work)

My knee is starting to get better, and stuff is slowly starting to get lined up for the winter.

Hot Dogs and Handrails

While the construction on my house progresses every day and the new addition continues to take shape I have been working on the Hot Dogs and Handrails coverage for Method Mag’s website. The article is now live and I think it looks great.

Tonight NuuLife Cinema’s Sixes and Sevens as well as Alterna Action Films’ Elektro will be premiering in town. I will be there and I can’t wait to see both movies. They are both highly anticipated.

Check back for more.

New Construction pictures coming soon.

SoCal and Back

This past Thursday morning I left my home in Truckee to head down to Southern California. I had a doctors appointment for my knee, and I was shooting the Hot Dogs and Handrails event at Bear Mountain. The drive was uneventful which is exactly how it should be. I arrived in Irvine and immediately went to Ten Asian Bistro for dinner with my friend Rachelle and from there to Red, a night club that is owned by Ten.

Waking up in a haze the next morning I stumbled to my car, went to my doctor’s and was told that they were going to have to place a gelatinous steroid paste between the Hoffa Pad and the Patella Tendon in my left knee. This was a lot less like getting an injection, and a lot more like minor surgery. My leg was numbed with a topical spray and then they did the procedure telling me that I absolutely had to keep it clean or I would require surgery to clean up the resulting infection.

After a day of doing nothing Rachelle and I drove to Bear, partied and went to the event. The gallery and write up will be available on Method Mag soon.

I am back up in Truckee. New pictures of the construction to come soon.
